Progressive rock, jazz and salsa can be described as cornerstones of his musical work. In 2014, a band, Antemasque, formed again with Bixler-Zavala and released their debut album of the same name on July 1, 2014. Since 2012 he has also been working on a new project called Bosnian Rainbows, the first album of which was released on June 28, 2013. So far over 20 solo albums have been released, in which various guests such as John Frusciante, Damo Suzuki and Jeremy Ward also participate. Rodriguez Lopez is also extremely active as a soloist. After their dissolution in 2001, he and his long-time friend and bandmate Cedric Bixler-Zavala founded the prog rock band The Mars Volta, their first album De-Loused in the Comatorium (2003) due to the diverse fusion of different musical styles by the press and the listener provoked enthusiastic reactions. He began his musical career as a bassist and later guitarist with the post-hardcore band At the Drive-In.
